Ungaro signs new creative directorBritish designer Giles Deacon has been named creative designer at the flailing-but-storied fashion house Emanuel Ungaro, the Paris-based label said in a statement Tuesday.

The announcement came in the wake of a wave of defections from the house, including the departures of its former CEO, Mounir Moufarrige, the designers for both the women’s and men’s labels and its short-lived artistic adviser, Lindsay Lohan.

With the appointment, Deacon becomes the latest in a series of designers to attempt to right Ungaro, which has been bleeding money since the 2004 retirement of its founder and namesake.

Pregnant covergirl of Teen Vogue raises eyebrows

Pregnant covergirl of Teen Vogue raises eyebrowsA model on the November cover of Teen Vogue is a 19-year-old who reveals in the magazine that she is pregnant.

Jourdan Dunn is not visibly pregnant on the cover, and Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley said the magazine didn't know about Dunn's pregnancy until after the photo shoot.

But she said that editors didn't consider pulling the cover Dunn shares with fellow model Chanel Iman. "Teen pregnancy is a difficult, real-life issue that Teen Vogue readers (with an average age of 18) are mature enough to be exposed to," Astley said in a statement.

"Teen Vogue felt it was important to support, not punish, Jourdan Dunn, who contributed to a beautiful photo shoot and who will surely have an ongoing and successful career in fashion."

The cover has raised eyebrows among some parents, teens and advocates against teen pregnancy.

Should you let your teen wear make-up?

October 12, 2009 |14:15 | Fashion  By : Team X

One morning last year, my daughter Molly came downstairs to breakfast wearing so much eye make-up that my jaw dropped. 'Er, that's quite a lot of eye shadow for a school day . . .' I ventured weakly. 'Oh I know,' she said sweetly. 'It's from the 'how to do smoky eyes' chapter we were working on at the weekend. I thought I'd give it another whirl.'

Should you let your teen wear make up

Touche. I asked for that. No sane parent is ever going to encourage their little girl to wear make-up, but as Molly and I have written a book on skincare and make-up for teenagers, I'm hardly in a position to tell her not to. I'm a beauty journalist, so my in-tray is laden with blushers, eyeliners and every other cosmetic known to womankind. I have a bit of a false eyelash habit and rarely leave the house bare-faced.

Never Too Many Cooks at the Julie & Julia Premiere

July 29, 2009 |13:42 | Fashion | Gossips  By : Team X

Never Too Many Cooks at the Julie & Julia PremiereFoodies rejoice! When writer-director Nora Ephron's new comedy "Julie & Julia" chomps into theaters on Aug. 7, everyone who loves a good meal will have a real reason to go out for dinner and a movie.
For this flim is the dual story of two famous women whose lives revolve around food. "Julie" is Julie Powell, the blogger who wrote the book "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes"; "Julia" is famed chef Julia Child, whose memoir is "My Life in France." Their stories are paralleled in this food-centric comedy, with two of Hollywood's top stars playing the two cooks who are separated by decades but united by their love of gastronomy.

Oscar-nominee Amy Adams is Julie, while two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep assays Julia. Both looked gorgeous walking the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the film held at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, along with the film's other key players including Chris Messina, Jane Lynch, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Ephron.

A gaggle of well-known chefs hit the red carpet, too, including Giada De Laurentiis, Susan Feniger, Josie Le Balch, Patrick Martin and Ludovic Lefebvre on hand to check out Streep's take on the legendary Julia. As Steep explained to reporters at an earlier press day, she was actually channeling her own mother in her performance.

Luli Fama 2010 collection presented by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Raleigh Hotel Oasis Tent

July 28, 2009 |13:51 | Fashion | Gossips  By : Team X

Abhishek Bachchan's HANGOVERThe invite read “Luli wants to party” and party is just what the audience did while watching the models strut down the catwalk to the beat of pounding drums at the Luli Fama 2010 Collection fashion show. An explosion of colors punctuated the fabulous fiesta with prints and patterns accompanied by ruffles, rings and strings to make buyers dig deep.

The design duo of Luli Hanimian and brother-in-law Augusto Hanimian used Miami as inspiration and broke the collection up into four themes one more fiery than the other. “Rhumba” rolled out with the Merenquito magenta flower bandeau and band bottom bikini and Confetti pink and black string bikini which gave way to “Boom Boom Boom” with the bold Fiesta de lazos sun goddess bow one piece and Mambo sequin tunic then turned into “Fiesta en Miami” which engaged the audience with the Delirio monokini and the Joyita Mia triangle and ring hipster leading up to the crescendo of “Pasion” with the Ritmo de La noche monokini and the Besos Dulce sequence tunic left the crowd wanting more. To which the Luli Fama responded with a “Grande Finale” known as the Pasion bandeau suspender monikini that added a little punk to the prowess under the Oasis Tent.

Luli Fama retails from $120.00 to $150.00 and can be found in stores like Diane's, Bikini Village and Swim N Sport just to name a few.
