TIME WARP: FOR once, the 16th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) started unfashionably early, with the crowds drifting in at Pragati Maidan on time. Sunil Sethi, President of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) opened the event with his textbook speech, justifying the change of the venue for the nth time. “The place has a great vibe— it’s spread over 11,000-odd square-feet, giving us enough space to experiment and have around 150 stalls,” he droned.
EYE CANDY: Besides the several forms of entertainment to distract visitors (read the ritzy lounges serving free booze), there are on hand, 34-designer rickshaws that looked more like candy shops—spruced with canopies and cutesy umbrellas in flouroscent pink, blue and black. Originally designed for the Commonwealth Games, the rickshaws finaly found its parking spot at the WIFW. “We were assured of participation at the CWG, but at the last minute we were not allowed to,” complained Sethi.
