The collection, inspired by 1970s designs, includes pieces for both men and women and is dominated by nude, yellow, white and cream colours. "Wide leg pants, flower patterns and stripes will make the collection modern and progressive," said Han, adding that she uses oval shapes as a starting point for her women's collection.

Han will present her collection along with 25 other designers who are together expected to show approximately 700 individual designs. Among the featured designers, two others – Quynh Paris and Spanish designer Diego Cortizas – will be making their debut at Fashion Week. Quynh Paris will bring her collection Vaporous Nature which was originally shown at the Pret a Porter Paris 2012-13 Fashion Week last September. It will be shown on the opening day of Fashion Week, tonight at 8pm.

Quynh Paris uses Vietnamese materials which were highly appreciated in Paris. "I have to experiment with materials for a long time with a view to tailoring techniques," she said. Cortizas first arrived in 2004, but this will be his first time showing a collection at Fashion Week. The collection, entitled Chula Flower, will be presented on Wednesday. This week's shows will also feature a collection from the TNG label, featuring the work of four designers who used 3D technology in creating their collections. Models from New Talent, along with Miss Viet Nam 2008 Thuy Dung, will present the collection on a catwalk at the Daewoo Hotel swimming pool at 8pm on the three-day event.

The Fashion Week marks Viet Nam's entry into the global fashion industry, a change in the way of doing business from cut-and-make to original designs. The event is being organised by the Viet Nam National Textile and Garment (Vinatex) Group and the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas). "The event will prove that the Vietnamese fashion industry has gradually entered global fashion with its own designs," said Vinatex chairman Le Tien Truong. "The industry is seeing more and more young designers with creative designs."
