North Carolina has it’s first confirmed case of the flu.That’s the word from state health officials.A 38 year old Wake County woman is recovering at home after her diagnosis.State Health Director Dr. Leah Devlin says, “We know the flu season has begun here in North Carolina, so if you haven’t been vaccinated, it’s time to do so.”
Devlin goes on to say that finding the flu vaccine shouldn’t be hard as supplies are plentiful. A record number of flu vaccine doses are available.She urges the public to check with their health care provider or local health department.
North Carolinians can take other actions to stop spread of the flu and other respiratory diseases as well by taking the following precautionary measures:• Cover your coughs and sneezes. • Use tissues and throw them away after each use. • Wash hands often. • If you have flu symptoms, stay home.
